Good morning and I hope that this week is starting with gusto!
What is it about TIME? Time that flies and yet, for myself, though I know in theory that I have the same time as others do, I am just not getting done what I want to have done. I know the answer (I am so so easily distracted, and distracted by the things that I love doing too) that I am going to write down here some ‘answers’ that I hope will help you too.
- Your time really is precious, it is YOURS and for you to accomplish what you want to do then that time needs proper MANAGEMENT. This might mean a TIMETABLE, a SCHEDULE, a PLAN that you honour, stick to and go by.
- When your mind tells you that it is fine to be doing other things instead of what you have set out to do, talk back to your mind! Distractions give you comfort and safety – no wonder it is easy to go off course. Next time, “ah … I know that I want look at my social media, it is so compelling, HOWEVER I also know that this project is very important to me and though at this moment it is hard – I am pushing though and looking forward to scrolling later – at that slot that is put aside for doing so”. You’ve got this. You can focus on the task, you do have a bigger picture that you are striving towards, you have the ability to apply yourself – just do it!
- Time ADDS UP. The minutes and hours spent mindlessly adds up to many wasted hours, HOWEVER the PRODUCTIVE hours also add up monumentally. Those hours set aside each week that you are attending to something important to you, becomes extra days and even weeks of work when looking at the big picture at the end of the year. Every little actions adds up – it is like a new habit. The small intentional repetitions show RESULTS. You just have to keep showing up for yourself.
So, this week I am going to be far more mindful as to where my time is going. With that, I will be mindful as to where my attention is going. I want for this week to end with me feeling ‘satisfied’ that I am on course for things that really matter to me in the long run. I want for my time to matter, to have mattered and to not just be ‘wishing’ for something different.
I so hope that you have a wonderful week ahead.
