What is the story that you keep telling yourself? Does it need to be told in a different way?

Notice the story that you are telling yourself about yourself.

Good morning!  It is drizzling here, dark and chilly and it is also Monday.  On getting ready for my day I sensed how I was allowing my mind to tell stories that are not empowering, helpful or full of wonderful possibilities.  Like when riding, I had to pull up on the reins, halt that flow of though, and change direction.

The stories that you are telling yourself – are they helpful or hurtful?   So much of the routine of your mind are the stories that you tell your self – why you have what you have, or don’t? what is possible for you or not?. Why your are this or that?   And these stories are ‘make believe’.  They really are. Your obstacles and limitations are more often than not narratives in your mind.  Stories around worthiness, stories around you being ‘good or bad’, stories around your possibilities, around your capabilities.  And these stories will dictate the direction of your lives.

And these stories get weaved into your identity.  This is why I urge you to really start paying attention to what you are thinking about and ruminating on.  And also to take that time to get to truly know and understand yourself through a lease of compassion and excitement.  Every one of us are miraculously different – and this is fantastic.  Our stories are not perfect but they are stories that matter and can be told in a way that is uplifting, exciting with great possibilities or told in a way that just stops you in your tracks and your light just goes out. Your story can be a winning story or a sabotaging story?

So this morning, please DECIDE how you are going to speak to yourself today.  You don’t have to ‘make believe’ a perfect story.  It might be true that you are tired, hurt, confused – BUT you can learn to turn the pages and you can start a new chapter.  You hold the pen.

You have a wonderful clean slate today.  Try a story that is heroic, entertaining, helpful and  one that notices all the blessings.  Notice the story around your opportunities, the wonderful coincidences, and a story about what you are excited about.

Be honest with where you are at, but describe for yourself a future that is beautiful, healthy, loving, adventurous, abundant.  Just think about this.

This Monday is a fresh week.  This week is a part of a grand story – you can tell the story that will tell you what will happen this week and so may it be a great one.
