Letting go of the ‘to do’ list.

I am sitting in a wonderful coffee shop wanting to write something of value but ideas are just not ‘landing’ … however ….and so …

Tuesday Musings:  Unexpected Delights

  • What am I writing about for today?
  • What has inspired me this week?
  • What have I learnt that would be really useful for you to know too?
  • What do I want to share?
  • What have been my recent observations?

The above list was written in haste, trying to stimulate some great ideas.  I have been ineffectively doodling and just not able to come up with the ‘one thing’ to focus on.

I have, however,  taken the pressure off and actually allowed myself to NOT to HAVE to fulfil my ‘to do’ list.  I have given myself some leeway and, in doing so, so space has been created for some wonderful and unexpected happenings.

The ‘time’ was filled with 3 really good, stimulating and uplifting conversations.  One conversation led me to learning about an exciting internship opportunity; the second has opened up possibilities to some students that I am working alongside; and the third was a fun chat with friends that I really care about – and I care about their business.  I just loved the exchange of ideas.  This was invigorating and special.

How refreshing it would feel to not judge oneself during these ‘uphill’ times but rather to trust that all is well and that possibilities are possible in all times.  In short, I want to reassure you that there are times when it really is alright for the schedule to go ‘off piste’.  It is a little like trying a new route and just doing something different.  It is not comfortable but it can open up fresh perspectives.

I would urge you, however, to keep doing something (no matter how small).  You might not be inspired to do what you had set out to do but what about doing something else and in a way that does not mean undue pressure.  I like using the phrase:  “I do not know how it will turn out … but I am just going to do it anyway” .  It iis so helpful in taking off that mantle of judgement that can make you feel very stuck.

Please be patient and speak to your self with care and encouragement.   All sorts of other ideas and possibilities can appear during the ‘gaps’.  Trust this.

Have a great rest of your day.

Letting go of the ‘to do’ list.
