Interviews and preparing for the next chapter ahead (whether a new school or a new job) is core to my work with young people. But, with this however, I am most interested in the person that I am meeting and their overall health and vitality. Their mindset and energy really matters. I care about the other factors too – those factors including nutrition, sleep patterns, friendships, movement and exercise and hobbies. These are the ‘other things’ that enable greater focus, energy and overall resilience.
SO, WHY DOES NOURISHING NUTRITION MATTER:
- You feed your cells and organs with good food so that they work optimally;
- Your brain is fed well so that you can get on and do the work that you need to do;
- You body and mind are balanced and calmer;
- You can start each day refreshed and not needing to deal with a ‘hangover’ from the previous days over feeding;
- You are lighter in your mind;
- Your body works optimally;
- Your mind is clearer;
- Your ability to persevere and press on is increased;
- Your energy is increased;
- Your meals are mindful and good to look at;
- Your sleep will be enhanced;
- Your mood is enhanced;
- Your motivation to move and exercise is increased;
- You are taking care of yourself well enough so that you feel more confident;
- The time taken to enjoy your meal is a nourishing break in itself.
And good nourishing food looks fresh, simple and tasty. Juicy, crunchy salads, colourful fruits, nuts and seeds, meat (that has come from animals that have been raised with care and respect), olive oil, yummy vegetables, satisfying brown rice and sweet potatoes, lovingly made sourdough bread. It is easy to access wonderful ideas as to how to feed yourself and those around you really well.
Choose to be excited and happy about nourishing yourself abundantly and deliciously and also consciously – because you are enjoying vibrant health that in turn is enabling you to work effectively and accomplish some other goals.
